Your mind will be blown after you watch this light and sound installation

Sydney’s largest contemporary, multi-arts centre Carriageworks has just announced their packed program for next year and it revealed a number of artists to look forward to such as Nick Cave, Katharina Grosse, Moya Dodd and a bunch more.

A Carriageworks favourite, Japanese contemporary artist Ryoji Ikeda will unveil a major art work next year, making it his third art installation at the venue. Ryoji Ikeda is a Japanese sound artist who works and resides in Paris. Ryoji Ikeda fuses sound, light and visuals together in a unique way to create a stunning and immersive piece for those who experience it.

Ryoji Ikeda‘s music has been described as raw. It consists of sine tones, noise and frequencies at the edges of the human hearing range. Rhythmically, Ryoji Ikeda exploits beat patterns, challenges the norm and uses a variety of discrete tones to create the semblance of a drum machine. He draws elements from ambience, evolving soundscapes and unusual sounds with little to no pulse.

When you put yourself into one of Ryoji Ikeda’s installations, you can only stand back and take it all in. It consumes you and educates you at the same time. Ryoji Ikeda will present Micro Macro – a huge sound and light installation that ‘sits at the intersection of art and quantum physics.’

You can experience this astonishing project from July 3 – 28 next year. Take a look at Ryoji Ikeda past projects and prepare to have your mind blown.
