19-year-old prodigious winner of Indigenous Unearthed has returned after a fantastic EP with a new single, and one hell of a name drop on this one with Illy. Coming off of his debut Splendour 2017 set, Kuren is riding some serious hype right now and is capitalising on it in the best way possible. Keep the bangers coming, that’s how you maintain audience excitement.

The track starts off with some buzzing noise and quirky synth chords that have us scratching our heads at first, but once Illy comes in with the core melody and Kuren unveils the chords, it all falls into place rather beautifully. The hook comes in and the track really takes off, with Kuren’s signature wonky drop grooving away while Illy croons a sticky vocal melody. The pairing seems wonderfully natural with their powerful chemistry, so we’d love to hear more from these two together. The percussion sounds are what make this track (and Kuren in general) stick out, as observed in his performance at The Plot last weekend where he was seen smashing some drums in a forceful manner, showing off a flair for rhythm that comes through in the production.
