Western Sydney rapper/producer duo Slim Set have dropped a definite contender for hardest Australian track of the year. Their new song ‘Lazy’ explodes at you in all directions; monstrous beat, crazy flows, incredibly catchy hook, and the bass will damage your whip.

Pulling from the grime sound that took over 2016 and has it’s trails left in 2017, rapper MC Dev puts so much charisma into these verses that this track manages to come across just as proudly Australian as the Bliss n Eso did back in the day. But this feels a lot more modern, and sticks out like a sore thumb that has fire beats amongst other Aussie hip-hop. DJ Atro’s production fits the trap style with fierce rhythms and atmospheric, eerie tones that ride over speaker-destroying bass. It grooves like crazy and Dev shows a knack for finding the pockets in the beat to work his flows into to make them as catchy and engaging as possible. It’s a wild track, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming or convoluted, rather these two show how to have a fine-tuned sound that is creative and original without being unfocused.

Please get on to these guys, this is going to be huge for Aussie hip-hop. We’ve needed a straight-up hard act like this for some time now, and Slim Set are bringing the change we want to see. Their new EP Feed will be out next month so get on the hype train now!
