RISE is the new Spotify program supporting emerging artists

Spotify has recently launched a new initiative to “identify and break the next wave of music superstars”.

The new program aptly titled ‘RISE‘ will give uhh… rise to four artists every few months, through a mixed-media playlist. Spotify’s reach currently spans over 140 million listeners, and the idea with Rise will be to market new talent and promote their music.

Pop/Rock artists Lauv and Kim Petras, as well as hip hop artist Trippie Reid and country artist Russell Dickerson are the first four artists selected for the RISE program. In addition to creating “one-of-a-kind experiential events” for each artist on the RISE roster, Spotify will curate video content illustrating their rise to fame.

Global Head of Creator Service Troy Carter, who selected the artists for RISE’s launch confirmed that Spotify won’t be taking a cut of the artist’s touring and merch, nor will it own the copyrights associated with their work. Artists featured on RISE can already be signed to major labels too.

RISE will be available in the US, Canada and the UK for now but hopefully it makes it’s way down udner soon enough.
