Just A Gent impresses with huge new collaboration ‘Hold’

Just A Gent’s consistently quality output continues to wow us, and his new track ‘Hold’, featuring fellow Aussie Thief, is no exception.

20-year-old Jacob Grant, hailing from Maitland, has established himself as an innovator in Australian dance music. His genre-defying tracks combine the melodic and heavier sides of bass music. With this sonic trademark strapped under his belt, as well as the thumbs-up from Skrillex and a supporting slot alongside San Holo and Droeloe’s tour across Australia, the USA, and Canada, this homegrown talent is well on his way to capturing his well-deserved global success.

In his latest tune, Just A Gent teams up with Aussie vocalist Thief for a banger with some serious heart. Hold’ dives quickly between softly spoken, emotive piano chords, and an electrifying drop with melodic synths, seamlessly combined with dub-influenced, pulsating percussion and bass. With Thief’s lush vocals stripping it back again, ‘Hold’ fuses the highs and the lows of Just A Gent’s self-entitled ‘lovestep’ that he does all too well.

On the creative process of the track, Jacob said, “I got to go to Thief’s home studio and we knocked out the original idea forever ago, so it was cool to go back in on that track and polish it up to be one of my favourite tracks I have ever finished”.

This one may be on repeat for a while.

Check out the track in full below. You can catch Just A Gent when he tours the east coast with future bass heavyweights San Holo and Droeloe in the coming week. Peep those deets right here.
