The xx vocalist Romy Madley Croft has come out with the exciting revelation that the group have some dance-floor-ready tunes up their sleeves for the near future.
After a big year thus far – loaded with the release of their third studio album I See You and a huge touring schedule – Romy found time to speak with The Courier saying the London band have some “techno tunes” on the way.
She said “We’ve loved having more upbeat music in our set. We’ve remixed ourselves, there’s some older songs that we now play at 120bpm… People probably assume that Jamie brought the injection of dance music to the last album but in a way it’s funny because Oliver and I were inspired by what he was doing and when he got back he was actually the one who wanted to come in and slow it down.”
This comes as no real surprise, with band member Jamie xx crafting an impressive catalogue of dance tracks over the years, including his incredible solo alum In Colour that dropped in 2015.
Romy was later questioned whether she plans on releasing her own solo album similar to Jamie, to which she said is “definitely not something I’m craving. I think with Jamie he makes so much music all the time, he’s always got his head in Pro-Logic on tour. He’s inspired me and I’m trying to get better at Pro-Logic. But at the moment I’m all in with the band.”
