Diplo says DJ culture is ‘cheesy’ and ’embarrassing’

Diplo has taken aim at his own craft in a recent interview, claiming DJ culture is pure cheese and he’s not a fan.

The LA based producer – who just last week premiered his new tv show ‘What Would Diplo Do‘ on Viceland that highlights the life of the superstar DJ – spoke openly on the lifestyle during an interview with GQ, saying the culture is quite “ugly”.

“It’s cheesy. Corny. It’s embarrassing. You know, I never wanted to be part of the DJ world. I just fell into it” he said.

He added that the EDM festival lifestyle is not much chop, saying “they’re not fun. The music felt like it was on a loop. It felt soulless.”

The conversation then moved onto Vegas, which we all know has a hard-on for the exact lifestyle Diplo is dragging, saying he actually isn’t as peeved by it as he used to be.

He said “It pays the bills. I can count on that money every year. Four years ago, I hated Vegas, but it’s changed a lot. The whole tide of that music is turning towards what me and my crew are doing.”

Considering Diplo is one of the most in-demand DJs in the scene, it males sense that the bloke is not feeling the vibe like he once did.

With said that, I doubt we’re going to see him slow down any time soon. And let’s be honest, Diplo sets are always good fun.
