The iPod Shuffle and Nano have been discontinued

Sad news for a Friday, but Apple’s iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano have joined the rest of their fellow mp3 players in mp3 player heaven. Yep, they’ve finally been discontinued. R.I.P.

Apple announced this devastating news yesterday, confirming both models are no longer receiving any updates and when the stockists sell out, they’re done!

Speaking with The Verge, an Apple spokesperson claimed they “are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano”.

But it might not all be bad news, as iPod classics are selling for bucket loads online and we predict the same will happen for the Shuffle and Nano down the track. In other words, keep them in good-knick, guys – you could be sitting on a gold mine.

Revisit a classic iPod Nano advertisement below and feel that nostalgia.
