Watch Gesaffelstein’s ‘Pursuit’ played live on a tiny Drum Machine

A YouTuber by the name of tubesocker has left jaws on the floor with a new cover of Gesaffelstein’s huge 2013 single ‘Pursuit’, played live on a tony little drum machine called the PO-32.

This guy has some serious finesse on the PO-32, because it’s pretty much spot on to the original track, a track that goes above and beyond sending chills down your spine. Watch his cover below:

Speaking on all the technical details, tubesocker writes:

I tried to be as close as possible to the original, combining both programmed patterns (used up all 16 of them) as well as live playing (used up 15 out of 16 sound slots, creating all sounds in Microtonic).

The PO-32 has 16 sounds but only four channels, meaning that it takes some planning in order to perform it. But challenges are fun!

Sound 13, 15 and 16 are silent – in order to have access to quick mutes. No effects, limiting or EQ applied – all comes straight from the output. (and mic… ? )

The strong bass-to-kick sidechain ducking was emulated by lowering the volume on bass notes placed on kick notes (using a morph location between a low volume and high volume sound).

Yeah, we’re pretty impressed. Keep it up, tubesocker!
