Lunice announces debut album and drops first single ‘Distrust’

Following the announcement about his forthcoming debut album CCCLX, Canadian producer Lunice dropped the first single off CCCLX titled Distrust and it’s an absolute weapon!

To top it off, he’s joined forces with Florida rapper Denzel Curry plus two members of his C9 crew: JK The Reaper & Nell and not only has it given us a taste of what to expect from Lunice‘s album but it tells us that his CCCLX project is going to be E P I C.

Distrust isn’t just your average Hip-Hop & Rap choon. Distrust is an extremely well-crafted, experimental yet club-ready track that exhibits not only Lunice‘s amazing production skills and ideas but Denzel Curry, JK The Reaper & Nell‘s rhythmic and lyrical verses based on political spiritualism standing up to oppressive relationships and institutions (which they absolutely slay by the way).

Distrust is almost broken up into two parts. In the first half the raw drum samples and a finger-walking, slightly Reggae influenced bass-line brings an upbeat and uplifting tone to back Denzel Curry‘s vocals.

The second half switches into an ominous breakdown with big tribal Toms echoing, swirling pads, obscure percussion samples and horns creating a more dark and cinematic atmosphere. Lunice concludes Distrust with a short belting and lively drum loop with rapid-firing laser sounding synths, finishing Distrust on a high-energy note.

Lunice‘s debut album drops on September 8 which you can now pre-order here!
