Jonti Breaks Hiatus With ‘Scrood’. Announces Future Classic Signing!

Ending possibly the longest and most torturous hiatus in Australian music history – since The Avalanches of course – it’s this writer’s absolute pleasure to welcome Jonti well and truly back to the scene. He’s just released his first piece of solo material in over five years, and it’s been well worth the wait. It’s called ‘Scrood’, and features Steve Lacy of The Internet.

Stacked with dreamy production, vocals and live instrumentation, ‘Scrood’ is a perfect encapsulation of the feeling you get when you hear new Jonti. It also comes with a video, released via Stones Throw, which is as dreamy and trippy as you would expect it to be. Alongside this new tune, Jonti’s also been signed to the Future Classic roster of artists – f**king oath. The man himself had a little to say on just how stoked he is to be part of the team.

“It’s going to be cool to be a part of the Future Classic family. I’m looking forward to having a team in Sydney that I can work with directly on bringing my music to life.”

Alongside all this already hectic news, we’ve got just a little bit more. Jonti will be bringing his love of The Avalanches record ‘Since I Left You’ to VIVID once again this year, but as a block party with a whole bunch of other artists. The Avalanches themselves, Briggs and Sampa The Great will all be appearing, and playing a heap of their own music as well as some Avalanches classics. It’s happening on the 27th and 28th of May, and tickets went on sale this morning. Jump on ‘em quick!
