NSW Premier Mike Baird Announces Retirement

NSW Premier Mike Baird has surprised us all in revealing his plans to retire from politics.

The news came via Twitter this morning, in which the controversial Premier posted a statement entailing his plan to “hand the reins over to a new Premier” and “move on” from political life.

The statement also goes into some detail of his achievements while in office, mentioning how “proud” he is of “what Barry O’Farrell and I – together with Andrew Stoner, Troy Grant, John Barilaro and our teams – have achieved over the past six years”.

“We have repaired the state budget, rejuvenated the economy, created jobs in unprecedented numbers, boosted frontline services and unleashed an infrastructure boom in Sydney and the regions, which everyone can see with their own eyes” he added.

Interestingly enough, he avoids any mention of those little old lockout laws. To be expected I guess.

Read the full statement below. Make of it what you will. We will update this article as news unfolds.
