Babylon Festival Postpones NSW Event Due To Issues With Land Owners

Australia’s newest festival, Babylon, has been hit with a hefty hurdle less than two months out from their inaugural event, forcing them to postpone their NSW festival until 2018.

The news broke on Friday, when the event organisers took to Facebook revealing that issues with the land owners and a third party meant that the festival could not go ahead as planned.

This, however, has no effect on the Victorian event, which is still set to go ahead as planned on March 10.

Bad news for the NSW punters, but there is some silver lining with Babylon revealing a string of “affordable” shows to come in place of the festival.

Read Babylon’s full statement below, inclusive of information regarding refunds. You can still grab tickets for the Victoria event right here.

“It is with a heavy heart that Babylon advises that the 2017 NSW event is to be postponed until 2018.

Due to legal proceedings between the owners of the New South Wales site and a third party regarding the availability of the site on the contracted festival dates, the site is unable to be utilised for the event and without sufficient time to find an alternate site, we have no choice but to postpone the 2017 NSW event. This has by no means anything to do with artists, permits or ticket sales. Due to these proceedings we can make no further comment at this time.

All current ticket holders will be automatically refunded IN FULL. The refund process will take up to five working days to process onto your credit card. Any NSW ticket holders wanting to come to the VICTORIA event qualify for a discounted ticket for the inconvenience and travel. We would still love for you to enjoy the full experience with us! Contact [email protected] with your details and original NSW ticket receipt for more information on how to acquire the discount offer.

It is important for us to emphasise that the Victorian event will go ahead as planned and approved, and will not be affected by this matter.

In the next 5-7 days we will be announcing a series of “FallOut!” shows across NSW showcasing most of the lineup on the same weekend at affordable ticket prices.<

We know you’re upset, we share your disappointment. We have obviously been working very hard to make both of these events a great experience for everyone. We are determined to make a difference and place our own mark to the camping experience in Australia with Babylon. We want to thank all the performers, artists and crews that share our vision. Fortunately, they will be back with us next year.
