Steve Aoki Fan’s Revenge Caking Destroys Gear At His Birthday Party

While Steve Aoki is many things – DJ, producer, founder of Dim Mak records and businessman – what he is arguably most well known for is throwing cake at people’s faces. The ‘caking’ started in 2011, and has become a phenomenon within electronic music ever since. It’s his trademark, and up until now it hasn’t come back to bite him.

That changed last week though, when Aoki and friends like The Bloody Beetroots celebrated his 39th birthday in LA. While he claimed he would be toning down the caking at festival shows, there’s no refusing the pastry hurling call – especially at your own birthday. It all went south pretty quickly though, with one fan retaliating and throwing some cake right back at Aoki. Then it went from bad to worse, with the cake simultaneously cutting the power.

That irony sure is delicious.
