Electronic Music’s Youngest And Most Successful Pioneers

The average age of an electronic music producer seems to be getting younger. I mean, it makes sense with how accessible the software is to come by, which – matched with the wonders of the internet – create the perfect tool for a gung-ho producer to find their audience.

However, as handy as that all is, it also means to becomes 100 times harder to cut through the rest, because as we all know, SoundCloud is a big place and EVERYONE is trying to make it.

With that said, we decided to take a look at some of the artists who managed to cut through and did it at a young age. Here are our five selections below, and feel free to comment if you have some others!

Porter Robinson

Porter Weston Robinson – whose name sounds like a character from Westworld – has been around for what feels like a long while, however he is only just 24 years of age. He erupted onto the scene back in 2012 with the massive single Language, and then cemented his spot in dance music history with an amazing debut album ‘Worlds’ which dropped in 2014.

Madeon

This guy is someone who did it real young. Bouncing onto the scene with a viral video (featured below) where he quite literally builds a song out of a plethora of famous samples, Madeon has gone on to put out a handful of anthems and even teamed up with the aforementioned porte Robinson earlier in the year for ‘Shelter’, which is also the name of their coming Aussie tour!

XXYYXX

Another soulful beat-maker XXYYXX is surprisingly just 21-years-old. He’s been fairly quiet of late, by the Florida based producer has a big arsenal of tracks under his belt, including his debut, self-titled album which dropped back in 2012. He was  only 17!!

Flume

The unofficial electronic music ambassador of Australia, Flume has gone next level superstar over the last few years. At the age of 20 he produced the song ‘Sleepless’ featuring Jezzabell Doran, a timeless track that led him to inking a deal with Future Classic and releasing one of the biggest albums over the past 10 years. From there, Flume has been touring non-stop, dropping stellar remixes and just this year dropped his highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Skin’, which is home to the double platinum effort ‘Never Be Like You’ ft. Kai. Safe to safe he’s doing well for himself.

Martin Garrix

We couldn’t make this list without including the prince of EDM, Martin Garrix. Jokes aside, you cannot knock this guy’s hustle. At just the age of 20, Garrix has an estimated net worth of 14-million US dollars. Nuff said, right? Well his debut track ‘Animals’ is currently sitting just shy of 1-billion plays on YouTube. Not bad for someone who was 17 when he released it.

What do you think of the list? Be sure to drop a comment if we forgot anyone so we can use them for part 2! And don’t forget that Porter Robinson AND Madeon will be in town early next year for their ‘Shelter’ tour, with supports from two other young guns Lido and Elk Road.
