Tommy Trash Is A Genre-Killer on His Latest EP ‘Group Chat’

Tommy Trash, aka one of Australia’s most well loved exports, is back. While usually he’s throwing out tunes left, right and center, he’s been a little quiet as of late. His last one was the symphonic progressive style banger ‘Wake The Giant’ with UK singer JHart in the middle of last year – way over a year ago. He’s obviously been spending that time well though, having just released his latest EP – ‘Group Chat’.

At 5 tracks long, ‘Group Chat’ packs some seriously bang for your buck. Every track features other artists that are doing big things in their own genres of choice. From Nick Catchdubs on the EP’s opener ‘OMG’, to A-Trak – with ‘Group Chat’ being dropped on his own label Fool’s Gold – Gladiator on the trap sting, Athletixx’ own Kittens bringing jersey heat, and Madeaux with what can only be described as heavy metal style deep house. Like the name could suggest, ‘Group Chat’ is an intense mix of tonnes of different voices and opinions all happening at once. Tommy Trash holds his own on all the tracks though, demonstrating his ability to traverse the electronic music landscape and the many genres that come with it. It’s super impressive, and a testament to the skill he’s developed over the ten years he’s been releasing music.

There’s also a super fun website to go along with it, with all the collaborators having a real group chat that you can scroll along to. Filled with GIFs, photos and fried conversation, it’s a great little extra on top of an already very well rounded release.
