RL Grime Wants His Next Album Out In 2017

With the release of his long awaited collaboration with Skrillex and What So Not ‘Waiting’ earlier this month, the entirety of the trap world and RL Grime fans alike breathed a heavy sigh of relief. It’s the first piece of new material we’ve heard from the producer in a very long time, with his debut album ‘Void’ having just celebrated its second birthday.

Off the back of the release of ‘Waiting’ and his the fifth instalment of his Halloween mix series, RL Grime jumped onto triple j’s airwaves to chat with Veronica and Lewis. In the short interview, he discussed the process of creating ‘Waiting’ and ‘Tell Me’ with What So Not in a visit to his studio all the way back in 2014, and his plans for the future. While he didn’t have a 5-year plan, he said his 1.5-2 year plan was that he’s “working on an album right now that will likely be out next year, and then likely touring off that.”

Big news. Though ‘Void’ was an exceptional record to say the least, and has changed trap music forever, a new album with a more practiced and experienced RL will be unreal. Here’s hoping we do get it next year.
