Ahead of his Strawberry Fields performance, Marcel Fengler has provided 5 tracks that will appear in his forthcoming set.

While growing up, he was fascinated by hip-hop culture, breakdance, and graffiti art, until the Berlin wall came down, where his focus shifted to techno. From there, he’s only risen higher and higher in techno itself, providing some of the most memorable sets around the globe. We were lucky enough to have a chat to him and find out 5 tracks that he’ll be playing at Strawberry Fields this year.

1. Slam – Ecclesiastic [Soma]

Really nice to see that Slam are enjoying such a attention again. I´m digging their new album ‘Machine Cut Noise’ and ‘Ecclesiastic’ with those never-ending building acid lines are the most exciting track for me.

2. PAS – Booster (Octave One Remix) – Mote Evolver

So many timeless tunes from Octave One’s label 430 West have found their way into my record case over the years. Like me, the duo have also been involved in a big remix project that Luke Slater aka Planetary Assault Systems is going to release in 2017. Their Booster remix is such a big tune and perfectly made for peak moments on big floors.

3. Thomas Hessler – Rise [IMF]

Thomas is such a big talent as a DJ and I’m super happy to work with him on my label Index Marcel Fengler. On his recent EP on IMF he impresses also as a dedicated producer again. The escalating melody in Rise is lighting up moments perfectly.  

4. Ausgang – SDX4N [Ausgang]

Recently found this tune on a killer 12“ by Ausgang. Their first EP saw daylight in 2014, but their third release that’s just out has really got me. SDX4N is such a great functional track for power hours!

5. Giorgio Gigli & VSK – Memories of an Unconnect Era [Planet Rhythm]

I’m really into Giorgio Gigli productions and absolutely enjoying his multiple layers in tracks and hypnotic sounds. For ‘Memories Of An Unconnect Era’ he teamed up with Roman talent VSK and it works super universal. Perfect tune to close deep techno nights!
