Ian Munro is one to watch. That much goes without question. With a swiftly growing fan base and an arsenal of tracks under his belt including his debut EP under UZ‘s Quality Goods Records, the young Auckland producer is the definition of up-and-coming.
The 21-year-old producer has hopped across the pond once again this week, performing at Brisbane venue The Met on Friday night alongside Paces, where we can assure he will be turning heads.
We caught up with Ian to chew the fat about Summer, and found out some of his choice tracks for a lazy Summer’s day. Dive into his choices below, and click here to find out more on his upcoming Brissy show!
What So Not – Adieu
The new What So Not EP is waaaaaay too sick on like every level possible, but ‘Adieu’ definitely tops it for those lazy, feel-good Summer vibes. The drunken swung drums and the vocal chops just speak to me.
PS: super special mention to the entire Divide & Conquer EP because it is FIRE AF
Ookay – Thief
Because Saxophones + Summer is pretty much the best combo ever. Hands down one of the best tunes of 2016 in my opinion. Huge props to Ookay for constantly stepping out of the ‘bass music’ box and flipping the whole game up.
Breezy Lovejoy – PYP (Mr. Carmack Edit)
The funky, Summer vibes on this one are way too real. Mr. Carmack is pretty much god-status anyway, but this tune is just too much.
Outkast – Aquemini
If anyone tells you they don’t fuck with Outkast they def aren’t a real human person. Because Outkast are hands down the most vibiest ever.
Oski – Tell Her
One of Australia’s most talented up and comer’s take on the traditional Aussie sound and just flipped it on its head. It’s discordant, it’s weird and it definitely shouldn’t sound as good as it does… but it does.
