Flume’s ‘Skin Companion’ EP Is Finally Here

Flume, Flume, and more Flume. We can’t ever seem to escape him. Just earlier this week he was thrust into the spotlight again, having used his ARIA acceptance speech (for one of many awards he won throughout the evening) to champion the efforts of Keep Sydney Open and those fighting to return Sydney’s nightlife to its former beauty. Today his ‘Skin Companion’ EP, a sequel to this year’s chart-topping album ‘Skin’, was released unto the world. With his ARIA speech still the talk of the town, this EP is another testament to what the Australian music scene can produce if it’s properly taken care of.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support you guys have shown for Skin over the past year and I wanted to share some more music that was written around the same time.”

Sitting at four tracks, ‘Skin Companion’ is the perfect little cherry on top. Like all of Flume’s work, each track has its own distinct personality and feeling to it. It all sounds like it would’ve been at home on ‘Skin’ too. The off beat drums of opening track ‘Trust’, the calculated hysteria of V’s synths, and the feeling of space in ‘Quirk’ are all similar feelings we’ve had listening to Flume before. ‘Heater’ we’ve actually heard before (featuring on a call to arms video by Keep Sydney Open ahead of their second rally), but doesn’t get old any time soon. It’s a typical banger.

With even more momentum now behind Flume, here’s hoping we see some of the changes he’s been asking for some time very soon. Tonight sees him kicking off the Australian leg of his world tour at long last. Check dates below and tickets right here.
