Flume Gives Lockout Laws A Good Ol’ Serving During ARIAs Speech

Flume has taken aim at Sydney’s lockout laws during his acceptance speech for Best Dance Release at the 2016 ARIA awards.

The Manly-based producer – who scored 11 nominations this year following the release of his sophomore album Skin – took his chance on stage to give credit to Sydney’s nightlife for helping build the career he has now,  as well as giving NSW politicians a little slap around.

I want to say a big thank you to the venues, especially the small venues and the small parties that are doing what they’re doing, because that’s where music evolves, that’s where all the exiting stuff happens, and that’s what’s getting shut down right now.

“To our policy makers and our politicians, please keep Sydney open so that the young artists, so that the next generations of musicians, can have the same opportunities that I had.”

Well said, Harlz.

The best part is that the bloke is still looking hopeful to win more awards this evening. I wonder what he says next?
