It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since Black Vanilla released their first mixtape ‘Black on Black on Black’, but today makes all the waiting for new material oh so worth it. Now simply called BV, the trio consisting of Jarred Beeler, local blogger and Marseilles, Lavurn Lee, aka Cassius Select / Guerre, and Marcus Whale, his own man and half of Collarbones, are back with their second release ‘B2V’.

The enigmatic group have managed to strike lightning twice in the same place it seems. Their sound, a mix of breathy hip hop and rnb with intense drums, jungle and semi-footwork influences, is something that no other artist is doing at the moment. It finds its own niche perfectly, and every track on this release is doing something completely different, while sounding like such familiar territory, all at the same time.
