Sydney local and one half of ALBA, Sam Weston, has put pen to paper signing a deal with Soothsayer.
The Melbourne label – home to a familiar face on Dro Carey – is a fairly young imprint but are doing very good things, and to coincide with his signing, Sam has released a brand new track titled ‘Don’t Save Face’.
The track is plenty of things but one thing it is not, is short. It chugs along for 13-minutes, running off a hefty kick that is dressed up with muddy, lo-fi sample work. Sam actually recorded a lot of the song;s samples during his travels through Thailand last year.
Another interesting additive to this song’s story is that it was written during his stay in outback South Australia. Speaking on the writing process, he says “I had inconsistent access to electricity for my synths… so this track is more sample-based than previous pieces”.
Listen to ‘Don’t Save Face’ below, and prep yourselves for an incoming EP.
