Authorities have issued a warning about a new pill being passed off as ecstasy that is currently in circulation in Europe.
The pink pill – that bares a ‘Superman’ logo on each side and is cut to the logo’s shape – was tested by Drugs Information and Monitoring System (DIMS) in Holland and found to contain a high dose of PMMA (Paramethoxymethamphetamine).
Speaking on the seriousness of this party drug, the Trimbos Institute write: “The difference between MDMA and PMMA is that the effects of PMMA occur much later, by which time the user may have an illusion of a low dose of MDMA.
“Hours after a dose of PMMA is ingested, severe physical effects such as increased heart rate and extremely elevated body temperature may suddenly occur.”
With ADE currently taking place, Trimbos are stressing that people avoid this pill.
