Boiler Room Have Permanently Shut Down Their Chatroom

Dance music broadcasters Boiler Room have shut down their online chatroom for good, with viewers now only able to comment on Facebook live threads.

Boiler Room took to Twitter to reveal the news, pointing the finger towards douchebags who comment ‘toxic abuse’ towards DJs as a big factor behind this move.

This really comes as no surprise, following the abusive comments towards Glaswegian DJ Nightwave back in July which saw Boiler Room post a public apology as well as addressing the issue of bigotry in their chatroom.

When speaking to FACT magazine, Boiler Room’s Gabriel Szatan said “It’s more of a function switch on the website than a way to eradicate our community. Facebook we have mods now for every show and what blew up with Nightwave has thankfully really abated.”

But despite the positive reactions to this move, there will always be the negative ones as well, however Boiler Room knows what to expect. “We’re aware there is a downside of what actually made it bearable: music heads connecting from across the world as the show took place,” Szatan said.

“But as Facebook Live has seriously taken off, the chatroom dwindled and if felt time to use that space on the site to push the same curious fans to related sets in the new Channel system. All positive at the end of the day.”

But as they say, out with the old and in with the new,  with Boiler Room announcing last week that they will new launching a new virtual reality clubbing experience next year. So who needs a chat room anyway?
