Tom Demac Melts Our Brain With His Remix of Metronomy’s ‘Night Owl’

UK nu-disco // electro-pop legends Metronomy released their latest album ‘Summer 08’ a little over a month ago, to some pretty great reviews. While for the most part it isn’t necessarily club friendly, with sounds and vocals that construct the band’s nostalgic memory of possibly their highest point, a remix of ‘Night Owl’ by Tom Demac is a whole other kettle of fish.

While the original was nostalgic, with a melancholy fitting a coming of age romantic-black-comedy, maybe set in the 80s, with Steve Carell playing some sort of father figure – oops sorry this one went really far hey. Demac’s remix takes the basslines and melodies of the original and flips them completely on their head. Vocals are twisted into sounding like they come from the mouth of some sultry android, and licks from the original are transposed into some new sick sounding synths. Oof, and the bass. You think it thumps for the first four minutes, and then boom. Oonce to grind your teeth to.

This is the track that convinces you otherwise when entertain the idea of leaving the club at 4am ~ magic.
