The Weeknd Shares Gloomy Video For Daft Punk Produced ‘Starboy’

The Weeknd has just released the music video for his latest effort, ‘Starboy’.

The track – which was produced by the robots themselves, Daft Punk – is a cut from the Canadian pop enigma’s forthcoming album, which is set for release on November 25. If this song gives away any insight into what The Weeknd has in store, we’re up for something really nice.

The music video follows last week’s audio release, which – naturally – had us dance music fanatics jumping through our skin at the concept of new Daft Punk music (not to mention the potential touring rumours that are floating around).

‘Starboy’ – unlike traditional Daft Punk releases – is a far more pop-friendly production from the legendary French duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, who seem to be moving more and more towards a mainstream approach following 2013’s ‘Random Access Memories’ which received it’s fair share of mixed reviews.

With that said, ‘Starboy’ is an absolute heater. The Weeknd’s vocals bounce effortlessly off the brooding instrumental work, proving just how versatile Daft Punk can be with what they create.

The video itself follows The Weeknd as he gets around a lush mansion, shows off his cars, fluorescent lightsaber-cross-thing, as well as a massive painting of Daft Punk in the company of  a panther. As you do.

Check out the video for below, and tell su if you think the visual matches the audio!
