PREMIERE: KNOXA – ‘Something More’ ft. Georgia Ku

The incredible house trio KNOXA are back bigger than ever before, with a brand new track titled ‘Something More’, again featuring the dreamy vocals of Georgia Ku.

‘Something More’ is the perfect song for summer; a high energy house track with Georgia’s amazing vocals adding to the good vibes. Take a listen below:

We checked in with KNOXA to ask them a few questions ahead of the release. Here’s what they had to say:

STONEY ROADS: What’s up team! Congrats on your new track, ‘Something More’, it’s such a great tune. What was the main influence behind this one?

KNOXA: Cheers dude! This was actually one of the first tunes we did together so we’ve been sitting on it for a little while. It actually started as a piano piece that Sam wrote and then we pushed the tempo on it and turned it into a dance record. We’ve managed to keep the piano quite prominent in the track though which is important and really works with Georgia’s vocals.

SR: You’ve teamed up again with Georgia Ku, how did that come together?

K: This was actually the tune that we wanted to go in and do with Georgia originally and then we ended up writing ‘Bang Bang’ too which came out a little while ago. She’s an incredible singer and really fun to work with so we’re glad we’ve been able to put two releases out with her.

SR: What’s the history behind KNOXA?

K: So we’ve probably only been together I guess about 18 months so everything’s happened pretty quickly for us in that period! I was out at Tomorrowland in 2014 as I used to work with a few of the acts playing and was just really inspired to start writing again and rang Sam on the Eurostar on the way back and just said “Hey man, let’s start writing some music.” I’ve known Sam for years as we used to tour together in bands we were in a while back. I guess after a month or two I got in contact with Kes who I knew was writing similar stuff – we got together for a session and we all just clicked and decided to start KNOXA pretty much that night aha.

SR: What are your biggest influences behind your music?

K: We’ve got such a wide range of influences between the 3 of us so it’s hard to say what the biggest is. We like music from so many genres that I couldn’t pin it down on any particular act or artist!

SR: What are your musical backgrounds, and how does this affect the style of music you create?

K: So myself and Sam used to be in rock / metal bands back in the day believe it or not aha. He’s an incredible drummer and his band Heart In Hand did really well before they called it a day. Before KNOXA I was playing guitar in Engine Earz Experiment who are signed to Circus which was really cool – Prash who is the brains behind that group is an absolute genius and really showed me a lot in terms of how to produce. Kes has literally been producing since he was a kid and is super talented. He was signed to Sony ATV as a producer when he was 18 so has been involved in making a lot of records across a pretty wide range of genres so I think when the three of us are together – our different backgrounds help us create a sound that’s pretty different from what else is out there at the moment.

SR: What’s your proudest musical memory?

K: For all of us collectively I guess signing our deal to Ultra was a pretty big deal – we’d only been together for a few months at the time of the offer and was important that the label believed in us from such an early point in our existence. Aside from this for me personally – playing Glasto in 2013 was pretty cool with Engine Earz – we went on straight after Diplo and just before Rudimental so the crowd was nuts and the show was unreal from what I can remember aha.

SR: If you could work with anyone dead or alive, who would you chose and why?

K: I’d have to say Prince. The guy was on a different level to anyone else and it would’ve been amazing to get an insight into how he wrote and tap into his brain! I’d also love to work with Ariana Grande – that girl is unbelievable. Oh and Max Martin aha

SR: What are you listening to right now?

K: A whole range of stuff currently! There’s a guy called Charlie Winston who I just discovered who’s an amazing writer. Also, I saw this rapper called Adian Coker who was supporting Hopsin a month or so ago at Electric Brixton – he’s unreal and have had his Connect EP on repeat since aha.

SR: What’s next for KNOXA?

K: We’ve been in session pretty much 5 days a week for the last few months so have been churning out the tunes and working with some really cool people including Karen Harding, Alice Chater, Hannah Jane Lewis and a girl called Sorana. I think we’ll have our next single lined up pretty soon so we can roll straight off the back of Something More into the next and keep the momentum going and hit the ground running in the new year.
