Since they released their self-titled EP two years ago, Canberra and Seattle based duo Vallis Alps have been the definition of ‘keeping to yourself’. While the time between releases was starting to make fans pretty scared of their future, we’ve found the light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s gorgeous. Again, a while ago, Troye Sivan released his single ‘EASE’ alongside Broods’ almost a year ago, and Vallis Alps have revived it in the most mesmerizing way.
The most prominent element from the original, aside from Troye and Broods’ vocals of course, is the heavy drums and clap combination. That’s very obviously empty from this remix, with minimal percussion allowing for their vocals, and particularly their lyrics, to become a much more important feature. The production is the most part left relatively simple as well. Some warm sounding synths keeping the beat, and swelling before major moments. That all changes towards the end though, with almost every element of Vallis Alps’ remix coming together to climax into an insanely groovy and uplifting drop. Pure gold.
Fingers crossed we’re not waiting as long for more material from these guys, and you wouldn’t think so with this release out of absolutely nowhere. But until then, we’ve got this.
