The local Melbourne label Jump To This has been hitting strides since its conception in 2010, their most recent milestone being their 50th release.

To celebrate, the label kingpins Hey Sam and Torren Foot are throwing a huge label party at Pawn & Co which is bound to be “an absolute sweatbox.”

Their latest tune “TMFW” that premiered through Nest HQ has just clocked 25k listens on Soundcloud and they’re putting it down as their most proud moment yet.

“From a label point of view I’m stoked we have hit this milestone” Sam Heywood (Hey Sam) said.

“I asked Torren to become involved in 2013 and the label has gone from strength to strength ever since.”

At 50 releases, we asked the guys what the toughest things they’d experienced were and what really helped them run their label.

Sam: At the end of the day a record label is a business. Passing on good records because we feel it’s unlikely to break even is tough.

Torren: We get sent a lot of stuff from producers overseas, and it’s hard telling them we love their music, but cant commit to a full release. You really need to be choosey of where you put your resources.

Sam: The best thing about Melbourne is that punters are so supportive. A local DJ will often have a bigger pull than a relatively positioned interstate/ international act.

Torren: Before I started travelling, it wasn’t uncommon to play 5-10 sets over a weekend in Melbourne. The grass roots support for locals is pretty special.

What’s in the future for the Jump To This boys? They’re hoping to keep releasing the music they love while throwing rad parties along the way!
