Flying Lotus’ debut feature film Royal was screened at the Sundance NEXT Festival over the weekend, which was followed by the revelation that Royal is actually just a cut from a larger, upcoming film titled Kuso.

This surprising announcement was made via Twitter following the festival, which included as well some exciting insight into the musical contributions that are involved.

Joining himself as Captian Murphy in the film’s soundtrack, FlyLo has enlisted the likes of Aphex Twin, Thundercat and Japanese composer Akira Yamaoka, who scored the spooky classic Silent Hill.

FlyLo – who is directing under the name ‘steve’ – also confirmed that Kuso is about “65% finished” and will not be using any Kickstarter’s as he would “rather just make the shit without having to play the perks game.”
