Deadmau5 Has Some Important Advice For Upcoming Artists

With a highly anticipated album around the corner, Deadmau5 has unloaded some pointers and reflection for upcoming artists.

In a video that was ripped from a live stream, Zimmerman is asked the question “besides making music, how would you recommend promoting independently?”. From here, Deadmau5 goes in depth for about 30-minutes on his own come-up, as well as sharing some crucial advice.

One of the big points to take home from the video is to focus on “in person interaction”, which lead Deadmau5 to reflect on the time he first met the then-unknown Skrillex who handed him a USB with unreleased music. He goes on to explain “connections made in person are a million billion times more valuable than a spam link.”

Zimmerman also reflects on the days before current DAWs like Ableton and FL Studio, touching on how he walked into a local computer store asking if they “know anything about making music with a computer?”
