Perry Farrell, the founder of Lollapalooza, has admitted in a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune that he hates EDM.
The 57-year-old Farrell went into quite graphic depth on just how EDM makes him feel, stating “I want to vomit it out of my nostrils. I can’t stand what it did to what I love, which is house music, which was meditative, psychedelic … I sometimes cringe at my own festival.”
Lollapalooza, now in it’s 25th year, is renowned for it’s broad range of music and Farrell certainly realises you can’t deny EDM’s popularity at the moment, adding “you’d have to do away with pop to escape it.”
Farrell also hints that a new project, void of EDM, is on the cards for the future, giving him the freedom of musical direction that Lollapalooza does not.
