Watch the recap of Mantra Collective’s Japan tour!

Reaching into the depths of Tokyo was one of the most insane things we have ever done in our lives. The buildings, crowds, cherry blossoms, and neon lights coupled with the sheer magnitude of Tokyo was massively overwhelming but after some time adjusting, we felt the warm embrace of this amazing city. Everywhere you go at any hour of day or night, the streets are teeming with people. What makes Tokyo so great is that everyone is so incredibly nice, friendly and full of passion!

The strong sense of passion is felt strongly in their music. The Japanese are meticulous collectors of vinyl and have awesome taste in underground music. Not only that, their producers and DJs are world class! Japan is home to Takashi Himeoka, Shintaro D, Yoshitika, So Inagawa and Perlon’s Fumiya Tanaka who have influenced us and our sound in a big way.

Mantra Collective had the great honour of playing at Dommune (think Boiler Room of Japan) and we headlined Kinky Groove’s “The Guest House” at Circus Tokyo. Circus Tokyo is one of the city’s best underground clubs with previous guests including Move D and Nastia. The energy of the sold out crowd was infectious from start to finish. We can’t wait to return to the land of the rising sun once again…

Mantra Collective will be teaming with S*A*S*H on June 11 for Inner Space, an audio/visual immersion with Arapu and Cote among many others. Click here to find out more.
