Local Sydney beatsmith Swindail has released a pack of insanely good bootlegs, titled ‘Edits, Vol 1.’ Featuring edits of What So Not, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, Sophie, Gorillaz and Cali Swag District – Swindail’s infusion of janky hip-hop and jazz gives the tracks completely new interpretations.
My personal favourite is Swindail’s edit of OutKast’s ‘Roses’. A warm rhodes piano plays gorgeous chords atop funky, yet weirdly-syncopated percussion. Held down by a four to the floor kick, Swindail introduces accompanying melodies and warm pads as the song progresses.
After bursting into the limelight a year ago with, ‘Gellaitry Groove’, Swindail has gone from strength to strength. From officially remixing ‘Walk with me’ by Cosmos Midnight to releasing his debut EP, ‘Swindail goes to America’ – the young producer is in for a big 2016.
Swindail is playing the St.O’Donnell’s warehouse party at a secret location on the 25th of June amongst JaysWays and Pluural among others. Event here
