Kanye Beat Tape From ’97 Emerges Online

You can’t say Kanye’s name nowadays without having everyone and their grandmother jump in on the conversation. Everyone knows him in some capacity – whether it’s for his music, his shoes, or more likely, his completely insane public and online profile. However you think of him, you’ve got to respect what he’s done and contributed to music, and where he’s come from.

Speaking of, the internet has been abuzz for the last day with the appearance of an 8-track compilation of some of Kanye’s oldest beats, dating back to 1997. Uploaded by Soundcloud user Trilly Madison, the super short but sweet cuts are about as old-school sounding as you can get. Though you’d be right to treat this with some serious grains of salt – is this really Kanye or just some dude promoting his own beats? – some keen listeners have cross referenced two as instrumentals to tracks that Kanye himself was credited on – ">Grav’s ‘6 City To City’ and ">Infamous Syndicate’s ‘What You Do To Me’.

We’ll be waiting on confirmation by the man himself, but for now sit back and relax with what are at their core, seriously laxed tunes.
