DJ Erick Morillo opened up about his ketamine addiction to Pete Tong at IMS Ibiza, admitting it was so bad he nearly lost his arm.

Tong questioned him about the depths of his addiction and learnt that Morillo actually did lose his arm:

“I did actually. I have a nice scar that, funnily enough, looks like my company logo.

“At one point, I couldn’t even urinate. Every time I tried, it would be stuck and the pain meant I had to go to hospital where they put me to sleep. When I woke up, they had slashed some of my arm off because it was so infected from putting ketamine in it.”

Morillo also shed light on what put him on the path to addiction, putting it down to his ego and seeing other younger and more successful DJs surpass him.

“My ego couldn’t take that I wasn’t the top dog anymore. That’s when things started to unravel.”

His honesty also revealed his numerous visits to rehab, arrests and being banned from British Airways for “leaving something in the bathroom”. He also spoke of how he lost the “love of my life” whom he divorced after a short-lived marriage.
