The Stirring Reason Justice Have A Minute Silence During Their Live Show

Justice is an electronic duo from Paris, France. If the name doesn’t ring a bell at first, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve never heard them. You probably know the duo from their hit single ‘Never Be Alone.’ Here’s a reminder:

Why are these guys relevant you’re asking? Well, a rather touching theory recently purported on popular sharing site Reddit has given us a reason as to why the duo have been having a minute silence in the middle of their Waters Of Nazareth live performances.

It has to do with the late DJ Mehdi, who tragically died when the skylight of his Paris home collapsed in 2011. Mehdi was a friend of Justice. An interview with the duo shows how one-half of Justice, Xavier, spent an off weekend with Mehdi;

“I stayed in Paris and I was helping DJ Mehdi – on Sunday night we took a break and I played him this shorter version of Waters Of Nazareth. He started to hug me and say it was like “that’s the best thing I’ve ever heard.” And he said that this had to be our single.”

“So I called Gaspard and I said OK, Mehdi actually likes this track so maybe we finish it – in the morning, we sent it to be mastered.”

If this interview and consequent theory are to be believed, the silence is a moving tribute to a friend which supported them in their musical ambitions. You can see this tribute at around the four-minute mark in the recording of their live show at Ultra Music Festival in 2012, below.
