Panasonic have sold out of their highly anticipated new Technic Turntables in just 30 minutes.

The Technic SL-1200GAE Turntable (that you can get some info on here) went on sale in Japan this morning in celebration of their 50 year anniversary, with sources saying each Turntable was purchased and out the door by 10:30am!

The craziest part, these mile-stone turntables were going for 356,400 yen, which is roughly $4,250 Australian dollars. Seem crazy? Well I guess it seems reasonable to the 300 people who swooped on them in record time.

A representative of Panasonic told the Sankei Shimbun that “I didn’t think the price was too high as we have confidence in our brand, but I didn’t expect them to sell out so quickly”.

There will be another 900 units up for international sale i the near future, however the time and date has not yet been confirmed. If you’re a bit of a turntable junkie, I’d keep my ear to ground on this one, as it doesn’t look like these turntables will sit around.
