Liquor Law Submissions End Soon. Make Your Voice Heard!

On April 4, the New South Wales government will stop accepting Liquor Law submissions.

The more submissions entered, the better chance we have at changing things so we have got everything you need to successfully make your submission before it’s too late!

Make the email out to [email protected], or post to the following address:

Liquor Law Review
GPO Box 7060
Sydney NSW 2001

When making your argument, feel free to use some of these alternative points we came up with recently that may help in getting your argument across.

You can also browse this Background paper provided by the Government that includes everything yiu need to know on the Lockout Laws.

– More CCTV across Sydney city

– Stronger lighting in busy areas

– A structured communication line between venues and police

– Street entertainers to lift the mood of non-venue dwellers

– Stricter guidelines for alcohol advertising through mainstream media (TV, Outdoor)

– State run education programs on short, mid and long term effects of alcohols and drugs

– Salvation Army recovery stations for intoxicated patrons

– Public toilets

– Introduce education programs that teach young males how to express themselves with words not violent actions and break down this hyper-masculine idea of what it means to be male in this society.

– Re-instate the $200 daily limit to problem gambling Smart Cards (which Mike Baird changed to $5000 a day in July 2015)

-24 hour trains (Melbourne did it, and it worked!)

As said above, every submission counts. A recent poll of over 22,000 Sydney siders reported that 77% of us believe the lockout laws are ‘inadequate’. If that poll is anything to go by, then we certainly have enough voices that can speak up. If you hate the lockout laws as much as we do, please submit against it!
