Sydney label Motorik’s latest signees, McLean & Mai, have just dropped their debut EP via Motorik Records, including a remix from Francis Xavier.

The 3 track EP is the first offering from the Sydney sound design students, and boy is it a belter. Title track, Octo, is a tech romper with crisp hats and a thundering bassline. The remix, from fellow Motorik family member Francis Xavier, takes the main melody and pitches it higher alongside a similar thumping percussion line. The final track, Sure Mode, is an effort that would be no stranger to Tresor, Watergate and the like. Synth stabs plunge in and out of the drums into a swirling breakdown, until it drops back into a heavy rolling kick and bassline – a dancefloor essential.
