A prime backdrop definitely adds to the vibe appeal for dance music massives. The latest addition to the global circuit is Punta Cana’s Electric Paradise Festival. After upgrading their lineup from last year, the Caribbean dance party boasts a stellar blend of Djs and Live acts all pushing the boundaries of electronic production. As the first ever simultaneous-stage party to hit the Dominican Republic, Electric Paradise aims to have big room rub shoulders with the underground all set on a pristine beach setting. While many dance brands are forced into booking the standard festie sounds, it’s great to see a North American event ditch many of the usual main stage suspects in favor of a fresher mix of talent. With artists in sharp ascent like Anna Lunoe, bass is blended with house music for an ideal sound for a beach rave. Underground heads including Guy Gerber, Nicolas Jaar, and Hot Since 82 bring dark sounds to light as their usual club sound will hit the sun of DR. If those few aren’t enough, these promoters took it over the top adding Skril, Diplo, and Major Lazer to join Gorgon City and Cashmere Cat for a new age take on pop.
