If there was ever a set to embody the idea of TGIF, it’s here. Though it was over three months ago, Amsterdam’s Dekmantel festival have today uploaded one of the best sets of the entire weekend, by Germany’s Motor City Drum Ensemble who’ll also play this years Lost Paradise New Years Festival. On top of starting his own label, MCDE Recordings, MCDE is obviously still at the very top of his game.
Starting out with some straight up funk fire, MCDE moves through all manner of fantastic classic and current house tunes, interweaving all the genres absolutely perfectly. It’s two hours of gold, and there’s no denying that this would be one of the best sets of any gig or festival it got played at.
MCDE will be hitting Australian shores very early next year as part of Melbourne’s Let Them Eat Cake on New Year’s Day. He’ll be playing alongside huge international heavyweights like Âme, Com Truise, Daniel Avery, Machinedrum and Seven Davs Jr, as well as local legends Andras & Oscar, Beatrice, Fantastic Man, Harvey Sutherland, Kllo, LUCIANBLOMKAMP and way way more.
