‘Girl’ DJ Documentary Pitches Crowd Funding Campaign

It’s sadly a common statement to say that woman within the world of dance music are under represented. So when a crowd funding project emerges from a documentary maker investigating lady DJs in the earlier days of the scene, it’s too intriguing not to find out more!

The premise of the documentary is a lady back in the early 2000’s by the name of Kandeyce Jorden. She would follow and film DJs including Sandra Collins, DJ Rap, DJ Colette, DJ Irene, DJ Mea to learn more about their position in the male dominated industry. She quotes:

“Girl is a fantastic film about women DJs in the dance community who have paved the way for such acts today like Nervo, Maya Jane Coles and more”

The film has been finished. Her issue is paying for the licenses for the music to help bring the movie to life. If you feel like contributing to the crowd funding, you can so at this crowd funder project.
