Wanna steal from Diplo? Go for it.

This week marked the release of Major Lazer’s new album ‘Peace Is The Answer.’ Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Diplo has been making the media rounds, addressing all kinds of claims, news, controversies, Twitter spats and so on.

In one interview with UK publication The Sunday Times, the artist revealed that he couldn’t care less if fans steal his music, openly welcoming the fact that most artists make their money from merchandise and tours.

Of course, most artists are really trying to combat illegal downloading – but most artists aren’t Diplo. “I don’t care if anybody – and you can quote me on this – trades my records, leaks my records,” he said in the aptly-titled article, “Pop’s Most Hated.” “I can’t make money off the sales, but I’ll make money off doing shows, or selling merchandise.”

The interview was full of other share-worthy treats, including a lengthy tirade against those who slam dancehall music – going so far as to drop Kanye West’s name (who used " target="_blank">numerous dancehall " target="_blank">samples on ‘Yeezus’.)

Diplo also discussed various Twitter-related incidents, including that time he stole GIF art from, which I slammed him for right here because he’s still a misogynistic asshole and a thief. And I stand by that view. With what I can only imagine as total glee, he reflected on the issue, saying, “People who didn’t know who I am know who I am now.”

“I’m, like, clickbait. I saw it with the GIF thing – I got more followers,” he said.

“People who didn’t know who I am know who I am now, even if they hate me. Is that a bad thing? Actually, no, in 2015 it’s not. Kanye proved that. All you need to do is be in their minds.”

….Yeah, that’s what’s important. Obviously.
