3 Party Laws According To Paces!

In the lead up to SOSUEME’s free mega 8th birthday party in Bondi tomorrow night with Carmada, Mickey Kojak, Young Franco and more we spoke to everyone’s favourite tropical bass, dorito eating, mountain dew chugging dance music hero Paces about everything from his own personal party rules, Japans dinky dancing laws, mini-bull dogs, the new single, child hood and more.

Black Summer is an 11 year old producer. What were you guys doing when you were 11?

Hahaha I definitely wasn’t making beats! I was surfing and skating with my dad and learning to play punk songs on my guitar.

Japan just got rid of their ancient anti dancing law in clubs. If you could create a law, what would it be?

1. It would be a tough new law against littering. People who are caught littering would have a full wheelie bin emptied into their home.

2. I’d like to see an anti-anti-dancing law! If you’re in a club, on a dancefloor, not dancing, then you’d better watch out buddy. That’s a $200 fine right there (a portion of which goes to the DJ or performer). It’s fine if you’re having a chat by the bar but don’t be soaking up that dancing-space with your standing, guy!

3. I’d like to see a law that enforces proper ‘cheers’ conduct. So when you ‘cheers’ your drink with someone, you have to make eye contact and then take a sip. If not, your drink could get taken off you.

You own an awesome little mini-bulldog, what’s the most important responsibility of a mini bull owner?

Aside from the obvious things like feed them and give them water (duh), you have to remember that they are wearing a fur coat. So on hot days when they’re panting and chasing a ball around a park for ages, you’ve really got to give them some time to cool down so they don’t explode.

You’ve release a swag-wave new single dubbed ‘Hold It Down’. What’s the story behind the making of that track?

I’ve wanted to work with Reija Lee ever since her ‘Sweet Talk’ EP so I was really excited to make this tune. Her brother, Shockone, actually put us in touch. She lives in London these days so it was all done via email and Skype.

Originally I’d made the track with a chopped up vocal that i sampled from a big pop record. I reached out to Reija and asked if she’d be keen to build on it and write some verses. Luckily it was perfect timing and she was into it!

What’s your advice to punters thinking about coming to the SOSUEME 8th birthday free show in Bondi this Wednesday?

Sosueme is always such a loose party! My advice would be to plan on taking the next day off work.

Catch Paces tomorrow night (Wednesday) for FREE alongside Carmada, Mickey Kojak and more at the SOSUEME 8th Birthday at Beach Rd Hotel, Bondi Beach!
