The ‘Laser’ Turntable Exists But It Looks Like a Home Printer

For years the debate has raged between the humble turntable and CD driven hi-fi system, that is until the laser turntable arrived one the scene.

Taking technologies from both, the ‘Laser Turntable’ shoots just that, a laser, deep into the groove to pick up all of the audio hidden away by the original masters from top to bottom.

Other benefits include no stylus and record wear and generally a great way to enjoy your vinyl without the pesky task of dropping a needle onto a fresh bit of wax after a few wines.

Those wondering if it works like a CD hifi system can take a breather with options to scan between tracks, pause, hover and repeat all programmed into the system.

The only drawbacks we can see so far is the thing is huge and looks much like your standard home printer and the hefty price tag with units ranging from $14,000 to $18,000.

To hi-fi buffs thats a drop in the water and knowing it’s origins in Japan the quality would be there for at least a test of the thing!
