Steve Murphy – Relax (Route 8’s Relaxed Remix) [Lobster Theremin]

Route 8, the mastermind out of Budapest, has delivered another inspired release with London lords Lobster Theremin. This time around it’s in the form of an aptly named ‘Relaxed’ remix of Steve Murphy’s cut ‘Relax’, which features on the revised Dry Thoughts EP that drops on the 15th of May.

The Lo-Fi House don, named Gergely Szilveszter Horváth, is someone I’ve only got into recently during a fortuitous youtube scout, and my word am I glad I did. His catalogue of dark, deep, minimalist, obscure and emotive tracks has seen the Hungarian work with Nous, Appian Sounds and of course the young, yet quality Lobster Theremin imprint.

This seven minute beauty is arguably his best to date, as he is able to maintain the laid-back nature of the original, whilst adding a somewhat ethereal and late-night dancefloor feel. There is an unquestionable summer-go-heavenly vibe evident in the track with the percussion setting the scene before the imposing bass kicks in around the 45 second mark. From there it’s a gradual build-up, with the introduction of a hypnotic high-hat along with a subtle synth line and sporadic clapping and assorted bleeps if you will, which all come together to create an ineffably infectious atmospheric journey.
