Read what Ookay had to say about his recent Miami misadventures, stacked touring schedule, and recent release “Echo.”

You toured for two straight months, what was the craziest or most memorable thing that happened on tour?

The craziest part was the schedule. I went from a bus tour right to Australia right to Miami for WMC week and then flew directly to Europe. One of the most memorable things was definitely standing inside of dead volcano, that shit was crazy.

In Miami, you had b2b sets with Steve Aoki and Carnage, flooded the streets with logo-branded condoms, dropped your hot mixtape, and had a killer debut closing set at Ultra Music Festival. What was your favorite moment of Miami Music Week?

My favorite moment happened when our squad was cruising around South Beach putting up mixtape flyers. This girl was handing out her own flyers so I gave her one of mine. She started laughing and said, “Dude, you look just like Ookay.” She didn’t even take the flyer.

What inspired you to make your Miami 2015 Check Out My Mixtape Fam Mix?

Well my mom told me I had sick bars for days, so I decided to lay it down on a mixtape to share with the world.

Your Snapchat post of you playing Ultra repping a Hardwell shirt was the best. Does he still have you blocked? Is 2015 the year Softwell and Hardwell become bff?

As far I know I’m still blocked. It’s been really hard to become BFFs when I can’t even slide into his DMs.

“Echo” with Scott Sinjin is a lot different from the tracks on your trappy Ghost EP. Do you plan on producing more progressive house?

I like working on a lot of different styles of music. It was fun to explore progressive house with Echo, but that won’t stop me from making tracks with different sounds.

Was “Echo” more challenging to produce compared to previous songs?

I wouldn’t say it was more challenging. Before the Ookay project took off I was primarily making house music under a different alias. It has just been a while since I’ve made a progressive house track.

Since you and bae (aka pizza) haven’t been seeing each other much lately, have you moved on? What’s your new go-to food or drink?

I will always love pizza bae, things are just a little complicated right now. I’ve definitely been seeing Sushi on the side.

If “The Roast of Ookay” happened, name five people you would want to roast you. Out of those five, who do you think would have the best burn?

I would probably pick Aoki, Kennedy Jones, Valentino Khan, Snails and Henry Fong. I would definitely expect Kennedy to come out with the best burn THO.

What is the coolest thing a fan has done for you?

This one fan gave me a vinyl record that he had painted a custom Ookay design on. It is really tight, I have it up at my place.

Don’t forget to pick up Ookay’s latest track “Echo” here. #OokayAllDay
