CRSSD Music Festival picks up a casual $64k fine in damages

After being ‘that festival’ that made headlines about banning rave attire, CRSSD has made headlines again for getting in some serious dookie with their venue.

The festival, which featured the likes of Jamie Jones, Chromeo, Flight Facilities and Kaytranada, seems to have taken it’s toll on venue Waterfront Park. After two days of raging, festival organisers have been left with a rather hefty $US64k bill to repair damages to the site.

With the price stacked on top of a $33k rental fee (a third of the Park’s regular annual revenue), CRSSD is being harassed to pick up the bill for repairs of:

  • A $2000 dollar sign in the playground area (no doubt soiled on)
  • Fountain and hardscape surfacing, chewed by ravers
  • Irrigation heads, valves n’ leaks – an estimated $6,270
  • More than 500 plants, which at the biggest cost weighed in over $35k…(!)

Bit of a bummer for the festival whose tickets kicked off from a modest $85. The Director of Communications for the county this morning confirmed that the festival agreed to take the brunt of the fine, so we’re imagining there are some sore wallets in the CRSSD office today.  Hopefully they’ll be able to keep it going for another year of destructively good times!

Worth it? You may want to check out the photos because it looked pretty baller.
